ABSTRACT

The main points covered in the last three chapters are:

GNVQs are complex qualifications which are going to take time and effort to understand

Both learning programmes and assessment programmes need to be carefully planned

Students need to be intimately involved with the processes of learning and assessing

Students need to be taught the skills of independent working early on in the course

The main approach to teaching must be through assignments on which students work with decreasing support from teaching staff

Assessing GNVQs is a complex process which involves making and justifying judgements about evidence using specified criteria rather than subjective feeling

Record-keeping is absolutely essential and students need to be involved with this in order to make it manageable.
