ABSTRACT

I thought I knew what it would be like because on teaching practice we were in school 70 per cent of the time, but it was actually quite different in a lot of respects, and in the first term I started work it was very much harder than I expected. Other staff laughed and said my timetable was lighter than theirs because I was an NQT, but it didn't feel light. I suppose it was that I had to teach a lot more than on teaching practice, when some of the time was spent on observing or other activities.
