ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the nature and context of working in ‘partnership’. It examines the view that intentional collaboration between HEIs, teacher educators and practising teachers should be a dynamic way of enhancing the quality of professional development. The approach to partnership and collaboration put forward is regarded as a positive way of providing good, well-structured support for both new and experienced teachers. It is seen as a dynamic situation for improving personal knowledge, teaching situations and the quality of professional development in both types of educational institutions.
