ABSTRACT

This book has been written in response to our own need for a resource book for academics engaging in communication and information technologies (C&IT) learning and teaching innovations, whether working independently or within designated courses. There is a wealth of literature in the sector and on the Web around this topic, but it tends to be dispersed and not necessarily placed within the working agendas of most academics or within an integrated educational framework. While realizing that we have not managed to cover everything we wished to in the book, we have attempted to provide this framework for practitioners by discussing the:

‘political’ agendas that are driving this forward, as well as the UK support mechanisms that have been put in place to help this happen;

pedagogical framework of open and independent learning that can be enabled by the use of C⁢

technical issues surrounding the production and delivery of digital learning materials.
