ABSTRACT
Although the Web is an excellent medium for accessing information and tutorial materials, it is the use of the Internet for communication that arguably promises the greatest educational benefits for higher education. If planned and managed well, communication technologies can be used to facilitate the development of online communities in which all participants collaborate to discuss, reflect on and deepen their understanding of their learning.
