ABSTRACT

Five years on from the first edition of this book, and the Internet has evolved as an interactive communication system. The actual practice is not without fault, so we should be praising the positive aspects of the use of the Web as a tool for education and training. At the beginning of this book I pointed out that:

interactivity is a critical factor in the use of the Internet;

an understanding of the 5 T’s is critical to the acceptance of Internet-based courses;

convergence of the technologies requires intelligent material at one end and intelligible material at the other end;

in learning to learn on the Internet, the student needs certain cognitive, attitudinal and manipulative skills.
