ABSTRACT

The design of financial control systems should provide ‘the right information to the right people at the right time’ and thus the operation of control systems should check that this is happening and that the original design is still relevant. One way of proving that all is well is to examine what is being done with the information and many companies now carry out this kind of regular review of their financial control reporting systems. After all, the cost of originally providing the information should have been justified by a cost/benefit analysis and if the benefits are no longer of sufficient value, the system should be changed.
