ABSTRACT

Domes are ever popular architectural forms, from the Pantheon and Hagia Sophia, to the Millennium Dome at Greenwich, London, designed by the Richard Rogers Partnership with Buro Happold Engineers. The transparent hemispherical Reichstag Dome by Norman Foster Architects is also worthy of an analytical case study in itself, combining as it does the functions of drawing natural daylight down into the chamber, whilst at the same time expelling the hot air generated by politicians.
