ABSTRACT

The use of CAD models in the context of design projects is such that the models produced reflect and advance the interests of the different participants and contributors to these projects. CAD models evolve from the experiences of different members of a design team, and the need to present these models to other people. As a consequence, different design practices have developed their own particular kinds of models and modelling techniques. Several of the previous case studies have shown that a major influence upon the types of CAD models produced was the central analytical strategy. Other influences, as in the following case study, stem from the need to present CAD information to particular end-users, such as clients and potential occupants, for example.
