Children with an intellectual impairment or learning difficulties

Some children have a normal level of intellectual ability but have some degree of learning difficulty; dyslexia would be a clear example. Others have a lower level of intellectual functioning due to either some known or non-specific cause. Most research on children’s drawing has been carried out with children who have a general intellectual impairment. I shall discuss first of all those studies in which the children’s impairment had no known cause.
