Sotya is still teaching in the same school and grades (first and second). She has been taking some bilingual education classes toward her master's degree, but she still has not passed the state certification exams. Lately, she senses that the Russian population has changed. Children seem to be coming with less education, which makes it harder to teach them. Parents are often busy struggling to make money to establish themselves. They seem to be ignoring their children more. She thinks maybe she might be too pushy, wanting the children to know everything. At age 60, Sotya is becoming tired after teaching for 34 long years. For her, teaching is not a job where you can take it easy; it's a life. You have to care. She plans to retire in the next few years. But, she hopes to be able to volunteer in the school to continue to help her children, because they need her.
