ABSTRACT

Language doesn't exist in a vacuum. It reflects all the life and variety and change and divisions which exist in society.

What is the difference between deep and profound? Do you sense a general preference for one word rather than the other? Why; what's the difference? Would you rather live in a hut or a cottage? Why? How differently would you feel if someone called you either a hussy or an angel? Would you like to be called either silly or a gossip? All of these words once had distinctly different meanings from today's meanings.
