ABSTRACT

The archives of the Gonzaga of Guastalla contain documents dating from the purchase of the territory by Ferrante (1539), until the extinction of the line in 1746. In 1772 Affò began research on a history of Guastalla and in 1785 he supervised the removal of the court archives to the Biblioteca Palatina in Parma from where they were subsequently moved to the State Archives. 1
