ABSTRACT

Cooperative learning is an instructional movement that introduces students to exciting new ways of teaching and learning. Cooperative learning consists of various methods that introduce to the classroom a different learning organization. In cooperative learning the class is restructured into cooperative teams of learners. Learning together becomes a way of life. Peers tutor each other, they share and exchange information, and they conduct group projects and practice mutual assistance (HertzLazarowitz & Miller, 1992; Sharan, 1990; Slavin, 1990). To date, more teachers in the secondary schools are becoming aware of cooperative learning and are implementing these methods in their classrooms.
