ABSTRACT

In this age of computers, educators often find it convenient to exchange information as well as messages–for example, to connect microcomputers to a mainframe computer or to connect microcomputers to each other and access databases or share resources. We are living in the information age. The amount of information available to us is accelerating rapidly. More books are being published and magazine and journal articles written than ever before, to say nothing of the increasing numbers of research reports and all of the information generated by computers. Learning to cope with this vast array of information is a challenge that must be continually addressed. The telecommunication systems will ensure that the right information is available and accessible when needed, but sifting and selecting the right information to meet our needs is our responsibility. Computers can be of significant help in the information screening process.
