ABSTRACT

As the new world economic order emerges, cultural interaction and integration is taking place in every country, society, institution, and organization. This cultural amalgamation becomes possible with the help of modern communication, transportation, and the emergence of a world market economy. Most studies of acculturation patterns, and of the collectivism-individualism dimension, have contrasted two or more ethnic/cultural groups. The presence of minorities and immigrant groups in workplace poses new challenges on how to manage cultural diversity in the modem organization. The adaptation strategies are known as modes of acculturation. The process of acculturation of immigrant employees may be different from the process of acculturation of immigrants in general. The cultural diversity which arises from the influx of immigrants is revolutionalizing the workforce in US organizations. The new immigrants are mainly Asian, Middle-eastern, and Central and South American who typically possess collectivistic values and have diverse religious backgrounds.
