Scrap utilization in steelmaking could be increased in a number of ways. The most straightforward manner would be to increase steel production without attempting to modify current steelmaking technology. 16 Obviously, being closely coupled to demand for steel, the volume of steel production can hardly be influenced by the iron and steel industry.
