ABSTRACT

Russian general. Yanushkevich was typical of officers in the pre-World War I Russian army who advanced because of political influence. Born in May of 1868, Yanushkevich graduated from the Mikhailovsky Artillery School (1888) and the General Staff Academy (1896). He served as a staff officer in the Ministry of War for over fourteen years. He was then appointed professor of military administration at the General Staff Academy in 1910 and became its commander three years later.
