ABSTRACT

This study of Cooperative Extension staff provided insight into their perceptions of workplace morale in light of downsizing. The researcher posits impending changes in the organization lead to mistrust and insecurity, as well as possible reduction in job performance. Several researchers stated that when organizations understand the human reactions to change, they can better prepare for future reductions with the least amount of distress for their employees (Maynard, 1996; Nelton, 1996; Winston James & Li-Ping Tang, 1996; and Neal, 1996). This study was undertaken for this reason.
