ABSTRACT

Incendiary Bombing Firebombing was a strategic bombing technique intended to destroy industrial machinery and large-area targets quickly. Unless hit directly, indus trial machinery is difficult to knock out with high explosive (HE) bombs. Incendiary bombs, whether they hit the target directly or not, heat precision machinery enough to ruin its accuracy. On this premise, most industrial targets were attacked by both sides with a bomb mix of approximately 25 percent incendiaries.
