ABSTRACT

The combination of women entering the labor force at an increasing rate, an increase in the number of single-parent families (mostly headed by women), and increasing longevity have created a dependent-care situation that continues to grow in intensity. The closeness of this relationship is more strongly felt by women than men because women tend to be the caregivers of dependents in our society. The dilemmas created by this relationship, therefore, are most strongly felt by women, specifically those with both home and work responsibilities.
