ABSTRACT
Approximately 42 percent of women aged fifteen and over participate in the Israeli labor force (compared with 57 percent of women aged sixteen and over in the United States). On average, in 1987 Israeli women earned a wage rate of $3.90 per hour and worked approximately thirty-five hours per week (Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics 1990).
