ABSTRACT

According to the Singapore Yearbook of Labour Statistics (1992), in 1991 there were 2.4 million people living in Singapore aged fifteen years and over, of whom 51.1 percent were women. The labor-force participation rate was 79.8 percent for men and 50.5 percent for women. By international standards the unemployment rate was very low, at 1.8 percent for women and 2.0 percent for men.
