Note: Before his death, George Shiers had collected scattered post-1940 historical references, hoping to fill out the history of television. Those citations, by no means as complete a listing as is provided for earlier years, and limited largely to books plus a few important periodicals, are included here. Arrangement, as with prior chapters, is chronological Annotations have often been added or expanded by C.H. Sterling, who provided the annotated list of books published since 1978 which concludes the chapter.
