ABSTRACT

The ethics of social work administration, I have said, is a function of administrative responsibility in social organizations, and of the relationships which that responsibility engenders and requires. Administrative responsibility is widely shared and widely dispersed, however. Since administrative responsibility varies in nature and significance, depending upon the status and position in an organization of those who carry that responsibility, the nature and significance of their ethical responsibility will also vary. Distinctions must therefore be made regarding who carries what responsibility, and the import it has for the ethics of social work administration.
