ABSTRACT
In this final chapter an overview is presented of the detailed information contained in the preceding case studies. For the sake of clarity, we have organized this rather unwieldy collection of information into two sections. First, we synthesize the present state of retirement communities with respect to our typology. Second, we identify five principle ways in which retirement communities have changed or evolved. These two sections serve to develop and explain the characteristics and experiences of retirement communities.
