ABSTRACT

Dionyza is the wife of Cleon, Governor of Tharsus. Earlier in the play Pericles (thinking that his own wife, Thaisa, is dead) has left his infant daughter, Marina, in their care. As Marina grows she over-shadows Dionyza’s own daughter. The jealous foster-mother has forced her servant Leonine to swear to kill Marina. At this point she is trying to persuade Marina to go for a healthy walk with Leonine to enable him to carry out the deed. Dionyza could be any age between late twenties and mid-forties.
