ABSTRACT
Queen Isabel was the wife of King Richard II. In reality she was a child at the time of these events, however, Shakespeare gave her the maturity of someone at least in her early twenties. Although we see them only briefly together in the play, it seems to be a very loving relationship. In many ways she is the ‘human interest’ (in amongst all the politics) of the play.
