ABSTRACT

This chapter explores how to create at will a condition favourable to the appearance of inspiration, a condition in the presence of which inspiration was most likely to flow into the actor's soul and make this no longer a matter of mere accident. Proficiency in this technique of ours is the job of the entire company, directors as well as actors. Our art is a joint enterprise. A true inner creative state on the stage makes it possible for an actor to execute the actions necessary for him to take in accordance with the terms of the play, whether inner psychological actions or external, physical ones. When the public comes to know actors of this sort it will quickly change its ways, it will value creativeness on the stage instead of rubber-stamp art.
