ABSTRACT

It is a matter of common observation that individuals differ in their capacity to be educated. But perhaps these differences are only apparent. Perhaps a sublimely able educator, applying the best fruits of psychological and pedagogical knowledge, could discover a uniform way to educate all children to a common standard of excellence. In the present state of our knowledge, this possibility is so fantastic that we may as well dismiss it from serious consideration, though I shall touch on a watered-down version of it later.
