ABSTRACT
Despite the usual quota of pageantry and heroic performances, the 1968 Summer Olympics, held in Mexico City, climaxed a year of threatened boycotts, disruptions, and protests by black militants to become rooted in the American mind as a showcase for black protest against racial injustice.
