ABSTRACT
The appearance of AstroTurf®, manufactured by Monsato Chemical Corporation, in 1964 ushered in a new era for outdoor sports. Within three years, no fewer than sixteen manufacturers were turning out some form of artificial turf for use at race tracks, baseball diamonds, football fields, and tennis courts.
