ABSTRACT
The national executive branch is staffed by approximately three million civilian employees. At the top of the federal hierarchy sits the president. The executive branch, however, has a quite diverse workforce. Executive branch employees include cabinet members, White House aides, national security advisers, Secret Service agents, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, Foreign Service officers, policy analysts, computer programmers, engineers, physicians, forest rangers, and people from hundreds of other occupations.
