ABSTRACT

Gibraltar located on the northern side of the entry to the Mediterranean. Gibraltar is a crown colony captured by the British in 1704 and ceded to the UK by Spain as a result of the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713. Spain has brought pressure to bear on the UN for decolonisation of the territory and has, at times, impeded access to it by land and air. Gibraltar is a crown colony captured by the British in 1704 and ceded to the UK by Spain as a result of the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713. Meanwhile, discussions over the future of Gibraltar continued, heightened by Spanish concern over drug trafficking and money laundering. Furthermore, among its own constituents are some units with a strong desire for autonomy, including the autonomy. In global affairs, it can be concluded that Gibraltar will remain an irritant rather than a potential flashpoint.
