ABSTRACT

a fluvioglacial landform consisting of a mound of sand and gravel deposited by the meltwater from a glacier. The features are similar to a series of deltas, and are formed along the front of a stationary or slowly receding glacier or ice sheet. At the sides of the glacier, meltwater streams often deposit material that, after the retreat of the ice, form kame terraces. Like all fluvioglacial landforms their deposits show sorting by water.
