ABSTRACT
Future energy-consumption trends and conservation potentials must be cast within a disciplined analytic and quantitative setting. An obvious and logical framework for establishing reasonable outer bounds to prospective energy-consumption levels and rates of change lies within the unfolding economic environment that will, in the decades ahead, confront the business community, households, and the public sector.
