ABSTRACT
Throughout our cross-sectional analyses, we have been testing our basic findings pertaining to the 1960 unadjusted total mortality rate. We have addressed such questions as: Do the results replicate with 1961 data? Do analyses of other mortality rates support the results? Are there plausible alternative explanations for the results (other than a causal relationship between air pollution and mortality)?
