ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the process of auditing, monitoring and evaluating part of the continued development of the Learning Support Unit (LSU). Reporting will be different depending on the audience it is for. Planning annual reports and building up to them through the year is helpful. Evaluating the work of the LSU needs to reflect how the unit is part of a whole school initiative and how objectives set are being met. Monitoring is most useful when it informs and develops the good practice in the LSU. And recording needs to reflect the variety of work going on in the LSU and should be planned to help with reporting needs. The emerging picture of LSU provision in Waltham Forest secondary schools is that of an increasingly efficient, well-focused and highly valued initiative. The main thrust of our evaluation activity will be ensuring that LSU provision is fully integrated with whole school behaviour policy and practice.
