ABSTRACT
This challenge is an investigation into language origins and meanings. It is designed to develop children's knowledge of reference sources including dictionaries of phrase and fable, dictionaries of word origins (etymology) and internet resources. They will need to use some resources that are not specifically written for children as well as those that are. Children should be encouraged to check for meanings and origins in more than one source comparing information. Words and phrases can be laminated, cut out and distributed to small groups.
