ABSTRACT
This and the following chapter will examine how reading can be developed during Key Stage 2 in order for children to reach the expected Level 4 Attainment Target, as set out in the National Curriculum, by the end of Year 6. This chapter will focus on book texts and aims to make you more aware of the characteristics of each text type. It will include examples of fiction, poetry and non-fiction texts along with ideas for activities in the classroom.
