ABSTRACT

Globalization of the world economy is not new, but it is continually advancing. Transnational corporations have bases in many countries. Their interests reach beyond national loyalties and their wealth far outreaches that of many countries. The sales revenue of Wal-Mart stores in 2006 was close to the GNI of Indonesia – the world’s third most populous country – and exceeded the combined GNI of the poorest 49 states.
