ABSTRACT

In this and the next two chapters we shall be examining the three basic stages of recycling: collection, processing and reprocessing. While we shall consider these elements individually, it is important to tealise that they are inextricably linked and mutually dependent activities as illustrated in Figure 5.1. Clearly, the way in which material is collected directly affects the ability to sort such material and vice versa.
