ABSTRACT

EC laws on waste set out a framework for waste management within the member states. A basic requirement for permits for waste disposal facilities, including landfill and incineration, is laid down and specific wastes, including waste oils, packaging, PCBs, sewage sludge, batteries and wastes from the titanium dioxide industry, are separately regulated. Regimes for supervising and controlling shipments of waste within, into and out of the EC have also been established by Community law.
