ABSTRACT
Opinion polls show that the public want aid spent on the poorest people and on basic needs. But until recently few comparable figures were available to show how much aid donors were investing in these areas. Out of 21 donors, 12 are now producing figures for the DAC on basic health and education. As the table shows, the amounts being spent are pitifully small – but at least we can now see how much donors are allocating to these priorities.
