ABSTRACT

TAP is set up to make coding fast. It displays the data text on the screen as you enter codes; therefore, no paper printouts of the data documents are needed for coding. Of course, the program will print out the text if you prefer to work on paper first. The text appears as a broad column, about two thirds of the screen width, on the right side, and you can scroll it up and down. The cursor sits in front of the first line when the screen comes up, then is moved up and down the lines with the arrow keys, as one would expect. It can also be moved into the blank left third of the screen (but not to the right into the data text). As you press the left arrow key the cursor jumps to the left and makes a small box appear into which you are supposed to type your code. Pressing the Enter-key returns the cursor to its place in front of the text, from where it can be moved swiftly to the next coding place.
