ABSTRACT

The Black experience is an integral part of the American cultural dialogue, and that dialogue is molded and configurated by the continuing participation of the Mro-American. Indeed, one of the major differences between the American culture and the European culture is the influence of the Black experience. The cultural dialogue about such things as individual achievement and community, equality, conformity and difference, honesty and expediency, and success and failure take much of their conceptual strength from the participation of the Mro-American in the cultural dialogue of the United States. This has been true since the inception of the nation. The Black experience continues and will continue to playamajor role in the American cultural dialogue.
