In this chapter Colleen McLaughlin looks at current issues related to counselling and guidance in secondary schools and colleges. She looks at different aspects of counselling and highlights three areas of work - the educative, the reflective, and the welfare elements. She argues that schools need to develop clear policy in this area of work and she develops a framework for policy development.
