ABSTRACT

We interviewed a range of stakeholders. These were:

school pupils who were considering the use of credits;

the trainees who did actually use them;

the parents of those trainees;

the careers teachers in school and the careers officers they worked with, who together were responsible for the guidance leading up to the issuing of a credit;

the employers for whom the trainees worked;

the trainers who provided off-the-job training to the trainees and were also involved in the placement of trainees;

TEC officials who were responsible for the overall operation of the pilot scheme.
