ABSTRACT

Parents are individuals, they do not necessarily have anything in common except the fact that they have children. They cannot be lumped together as a group who all need to be ‘dealt with’ in the same way and it cannot be assumed that there are magic answers or tricks or formulae to use to ensure smooth and effective partnership with them. Attempts to subdivide parents, to fit them into various categories and apply the appropriate solution will result in an ever expanding number of categories and an equal number of different solutions.
