ABSTRACT

This book deals with organising collaborative enquiry. The book focuses on authors and professionals, including the new occupants of the Department for Education and Employment, who have added their valuable and positive contributions to this increasingly important aspect of educational practice. This has widened the debate and discourse about the most effective ways of managing, supporting and training learning support assistants in their valuable and indispensable contribution to the work of schools. In a collaborative inquiry everybody has something to offer which is worthwhile. If people are some what reticent to volunteer comments in the big group it is generally better to get people to chat with a neighbour/partner first of all, before the whole group attempts discussion. The advantage of this activity process and debrief is that all people in the group have an accountability to learn what has been important in their group discussion, and to impart this to others in the large group.
